CHALLENGE
Create an iconic key communication piece for the Northern Kentucky University Fall 2025 Bachelor of Fine Arts Senior Exhibition, a showcase for students to display their capstone projects in the school’s gallery. It should be both conceptually strong and visually provocative. It requires developing a clear typographic voice and exploring multiple creative directions within a fast-paced, idea-driven process.
Solution
The idea of prism became the guiding creative strategy. A prism displays the essence of multiple light paths coming together and refracting, much like the senior design class. From that notion, the design evolved into a study of light and structure. Wireframe letterforms echo the idea of form taking shape, while layered contour lines and shifting gradients create a sense of movement, as if the poster itself were bending light. The composition balances intensity and order, using typography as both architecture and atmosphere. The result is a visual metaphor for creative expansion, where focus transforms into brilliance.
